EZEKIEL 6- HIGH PLACES OF WORSHIP DESTROYED

Ezekiel has been told to prophesy against the high places of worship that have been built by His people on the hills and high places surrounding them. They have began to set up idols, pagan images and offer sacrifices to the pagan entities. The covenant curses of Leviticus 26 are now coming into effect. Beginning in verse three you read the many “I wills” of God as He plans to destroy the pagan places of worship. The end result is discussed in verse 7-“and ye shall know that I am the LORD.” KJV. Phrases like this by the prophets is known as the Recognition Formula. This is a common phrase used by the prophet that emphasizes how someone- ” will know that I am Yahweh” when God acts in history to bring judgement. Israel has broken God’s heart.
There will be a small remnant saved, we know this because of what was said by God in Eze. 5:3. God is also going to subject them to a pestilence and a famine, so not only is there going to be a covenant curse on Israel but there is going to be one on the land also. Our God is a jealous God-“Deu_6:15  (For the LORD thy God is a jealous God among you) lest the anger of the LORD thy God be kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.”
I wonder if America has worshiped other gods? Such as money, knowledge, physical pleasures, fame, sexual pleasures, control and power. Is there anything in your life that you love more than God or maybe you are foolish enough to say that you do not even believe in God? I believe that unless America turns from her wicked ways and one day acknowledges God, America will experience this very same punishment that we see here in Ezekiel 6.   God bless us.
